Aftercare Centres
UNIEP currently
has 5 Aftercare centres in the rural areas of Hoenderverdors (Avontuur
district), Noll, Eseljaght, Snyberg and Kliprivier. Every centre has a
supervisor and cook. One meal per day is provided to the children. The
children have access to educational and recreational games at the centre, as
well as books. Assistance with homework is given by improving reading and
counting skills. This project is funded by the Department of Social Development
as well as the National Lottery Distribution Fund. 155 children attend this
centres in the various areas. |

Youth Development
Youth centres
exist in the areas of Uniondale, Avontuur, Haarlem, Kouga, Noll, Eensaamheid,
Snyberg, Rooirivier and Vlakteplaas.
Various
activities take place at the youth centres such as Awareness sessions,
Leadership workshops, Workshops to motivate entrepreneurial activities, Computer
training and Life skills training. |

Community
Nutrition & Development Centres "CNDC's"
CNDC's was
established in the areas of Uniondale, Haarlem, Noll, Alfalahof, Avontuur,
Rooirivier, Snyberg & Barandas. One meal per day is provided to each
beneficiary as well as traning opportunities. An exit strategy also exist where
employment opportunities are provided to beneficiaries. The project currently
has 180 beneficiaries. |

Grows and supplies Fresh Produce and makes preserves for sale to local shops
and guest houses - and to UnIEP's Kitchen. |

Manufactures overalls, jackets and bags. |

Manufactures Quilts, Curtains and Soft Furnishings. |

Trained and Tourism accredited guides to enhance your visit to Uniondale. |

Manufactures wooden furniture and small wooden items. |

HIV Project
Awareness
sessions on HIV/Aids, TB, Substance Abuse and Violence against Women & Children
are conducted on a monthly basis in all the areas UNIEP is operating in.

The Avontuur Vegetable Tunnel project grows organic vegetables. It is located at
the Avontuur LB Primary School and is aimed at teaching the children how to grow
vegetables whilst also keeping the busy in the afternoons. |
Community Based Care
UNIEP
currently has 32 Community Care Workers as funded by the Department of Health in
the areas of Uniondale, Avontuur, Haarlem, Noll, Eensaamheid, Eseljaght, Snyberg,
Alfalfahof, Rooirivier & Vlakteplaas.
The service work
on a referral basis from the clinics and hospital and the service is free of
charge.
UNIEP currently
has 472 patients in this programme who receives service from the Community Care
Workers. |
Pig Farmers Co-operative

Tries to provide warm winter clothing for as many needy children as possible
to help them through the sometimes bitter winters.
This project

thrown out of work by the effects of the devastating hail storm of November
